Join “Morocco” on a Casbah Dance Experience: June 22 – July 6, 2004

Day 1: Meet MOROCCO (known as Rocky to her students, fans & friends) at JFK airport for check-in & orientation, then onto our EgyptAir jet for our overnight flight. Dinner, movie, nap. Wake up in

Day 2: CAIRO!! Have $20 in cash ready to pay for your visa & change some money. We meet our Cairo agency representative, go through Passport Control, get our bags, pass through Customs, get on our bus & transfer to the centrally located Hotel VICTORIA, in the heart of downtown Cairo, near Ezbekiyya Gardens & Opera Square.

Unpack & wash up a bit, then dinner on your own: the hotel has a restaurant or, if you want, Rocky can take you to Alfi Bey’s, right near our hotel: it’s good & it’s cheap!!

Early to bed, because we start in earnest tomorrow morning!

Day 3: Buffet breakfast in the hotel & onto our private bus for a great full day CITY TOUR, visiting the Egyptian Museum, Citadel of Salah El Din, Mohamed Ali Mosque, Coptic Museum, Coptic Churches of Old Cairo & Ben Ezra Synagogue. Lunch stop at the world famous Felfela Garden Restaurant during the tour (pay for your own).

Dinner/ Evening at leisure: if you’re into it, Rocky knows a great Chinese (no kidding!) restaurant within walking distance of our hotel: also very good & not expensive…

Day 4: Buffet breakfast, then our bus will take you to the PYRAMIDS& SPHINX in Giza!!

Afternoon at leisure to explore the neighborhood, but get back in time because this evening we are going for a DINNER CRUISE on the NILE MAXIM BOAT: includes dinner & show with ORIENTAL DANCE.

Day 5: Buffet breakfast & on to our bus to KHAN el KHALILIi, where Rocky will lead you straight to Al WIKALAH, the marvelous four-story building chock full of shiny, beaded & sequinned dance goodies, run by the wonderful Mahmoud Abd El Ghaffar. Rest of the day to try on costumes, shop & try to balance the Egyptian national budget.

Back to the hotel & early dinner on your own: this evening we are off to the CITADEL for an unforgettable DERVISH SHOW under the stars.

Pack & get some sleep because ….

Day 6: Buffet breakfast, then onto our bus to transfer to our garden view rooms at the fabulous 5-star MENA HOUSE Hotel in Giza, right at the Pyramids!!! (First thing you see when you walk outside to go to breakfast in the morning!)

Register & pay for the classes you selected at Raqia Hassan’s AHLAN wa SAHLAN FESTIVAL! (Cost of individual classes not included, since cost depends on your own individual choices)

Evening: Opening GALA SHOW with buffet dinner included, starring Cairo’s current favorite  ORIENTAL DANCERS!!!

Days 7 – 11: Buffet breakfasts at the hotel.

Whichever SEMINAR CLASSES you paid for & shopping you choose to do on the premises (there will be several Cairo dancewear merchants in the hotel, vending at the seminar.

Lunches & dinners on your own: there are several restaurants in the hotel. Bring a bathing suit & full coverup: there’s a nice outdoor pool to swim, relax, whatever.

EVERY EVENING during the Festival: a DANCE SHOW by the seminar participants *&* time to get up & boogie to live music!!! (Speak to Rocky about participating & what she strongly advises …). There is a limited food & drink menu available in the dance room ….

Day 12: Buffet breakfast, then day at leisure, to work on your tan or go back to the Khan (no – they don’t rhyme!).

Don’t tire yourself out, because this evening is the almost never-ending GALA FINALE & Buffet Dinner with ORIENTAL DANCE Galore! MORE of Cairo’s favorite dancers!!!.

Day 13: Buffet breakfast, then day at leisure: you’re gonna need it to recover from last night! Rocky will find out if there is any Oriental dance show in Cairo worth seeing … in which case, those of you who want to are very much invited to come with her (& pay your own tab…)

Day 14: Buffet breakfast. Onto our bus to return to the Khan & Marvelous Mahmoud’s … Rocky will also show you where to get some great CDs & audio tapes lots cheaper than here ….

Evening: DERVISH SHOW under the stars at the CITADEL: well worth seeing again & the perfect ending to our trip!!!

Be smart & pay your extra hotel charges when we return this evening, pack, try to sleep….
